About
Recap is a platform for the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. Made to streamline management of academic pro bono works from student groups. It turns every work into a usable portfolio piece for students and a galley showcase of the school's ability to work with client.
Problem
Every semester, hundreds of students spend months building industry-sponsored capstone projects. The existing platform acted more as a directory than a showcase. Projects were listed with limited information, lacked consistent presentation, and offered little opportunity for students to demonstrate their contributions, technical skills, or project outcomes. Employers and industry partners had difficulty discovering student work, while the School of Computer Science lacked a modern platform capable of representing the quality of its programme.
Objective
How do you transform hundreds of student capstone projects from a forgotten archive into a professional talent showcase?

Solution
Re:Cap was designed as a gallery rather than a traditional listing. Instead of treating projects as static records for the university, we focused on making each project highly customisable so it could reflect the story, effort, collaboration, and impact of each team.
